TWO WAYS TO BRIJUNI
Brijuni National Park lies just off the coast north of Pula, and there are two ways to visit Brijuni from Pula. You can travel to Fažana and take the national park’s own boat to Veliki Brijun, or join a boat trip from Pula harbour that cruises around the islands. Which one suits you best depends on what you want to see.
Here is how each option works.
OPTION 1: PARK BOAT FROM FAŽANA
Veliki Brijun, the largest island, can only be visited with the national park’s own boats. They leave from the jetty in the centre of Fažana, a small fishing town just north of Pula, and the crossing takes about 15 minutes. Fažana is easy to reach by car from Pula, and road signs show the way to the Brijuni Islands.
Tickets must be bought before boarding, online or at the park office in Fažana, next to the main pier. You board at the time printed on your ticket. The park is open every day except in January and February, when visits are arranged for groups only.
The guided excursion takes about three and a half hours. It includes the boat to Veliki Brijun and back, a one-hour tourist train ride, a walk with a guide, the Safari Park and the museum exhibitions. Children under 7 enter free and children from 7 to 18 pay half price. There are no shops or ATMs on the island, but the tap water is safe to drink.
OPTION 2: BOAT TRIP FROM PULA
If you would rather stay in Pula and spend the day on the sea, our Swim & Snorkel Brijuni Tour starts right in the city. We leave Pula harbour daily, past the Uljanik shipyard, and cruise around the islands of the national park: the harbour of Veliki Brijun, the north coast with the Safari Park, the strait between Veliki and Mali Brijun, the islet of Vanga and Tito’s villas.
The cruise ends at the island of Sv. Jerolim, where you have about two and a half hours to swim, snorkel and explore. On our wooden boat “Lucija” we serve lunch and drinks, and on the boat “Emilio” drinks only. The tour lasts five hours and runs from 1 June to the end of September.
This tour does not stop on Veliki Brijun. You see the main island from the sea and spend your free time on Sv. Jerolim.
WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE
Choose the park boat from Fažana if you want to walk on Veliki Brijun, see the Safari Park up close and visit the museum. Choose the boat trip from Pula if you want a relaxed day at sea with a swimming and snorkeling stop, lunch on board and no need to travel to Fažana.
GOOD TO KNOW
Our boat “Lucija” waits at the Riva in Pula, across from Tito’s Park. Please be there at least 30 minutes before departure, as the boat leaves on time. The national park fee for Sv. Jerolim is not included in the ticket and is paid in cash directly to the park. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sun hat and sunscreen.
